Princess Royal Jetty:
The Princess Royal Jetty was completed in 1994 and
was constructed to meet an increasing demand for berths
from vessels servicing the needs of the offshore oil and
gas industry. The three berth jetty consists of a
reinforced concrete deck supported on tubular steel
piles. The berths, which are protected by Trellex Arch
fendering, are serviced with fuel and water.
The two main berths, numbered 2 and 3 on the eastern
side of the jetty, are operated by ASCo to complement
its facilities at the South Base. These have a minimum
water depth of 7 metres and can thus accommodate the
larger North Sea oil support vessels.
The third berth, numbered 1, is operated by Peterhead
Bay Authority. Along with 3,200 square metres of
concrete surfaced storage area, it is available for the
handling of bulk and general cargoes such as grain,
fertiliser, peat and frozen fish.
